Copy Editing |
After our adventure at sea, the vessel is in need of a clean-up.
Copy editing is the thorough review of U.S. grammar, punctuation, mechanics, style guide, headings, consistency, spelling, scriptural accuracy, citation consistency, completeness, and clarity. A style guide is a list of rules about how specific matters should be formatted, spelled, punctuated, etc. for the sake of consistency and order. When I mention citation consistency, I mean that while I do not personally create entire bibliographies from scratch for my authors (I choose not to provide that service). I am happy to create consistent formatting, style, and appearance of citations with information attainable on the internet or within the document.

4. Before I return the copy edits on deadline, I expect the remaining balance to be paid.
5. I send the copy edits via email in Microsoft Word.
6. You are welcome to reach out with questions about the edits up to 30 days after receiving.
(There is no debrief call or revision review included in this service.)

Cost:
Each project is individually rated. That means that I evaluate each manuscript's needs and decide how much it will cost based on the labor and resources needed. With that said, the most common rates I charge for copy editing are $0.015-$0.025 per word. This is competitively below the industry average set by the Editorial Freelance Association.
